The Family that Inks Together . . .

I don't have pics from last year's outing, but thought I'd add the update. Last year Dad, Mom, and I all got tattoos together. Mom's first, Dad's second, my third. When AJ was in town they went down and she got her first tattoo. Last week when she was in town we headed back down to Dana's so she could get her's touched up and Dad could get his third.

Here's AJ's face when they started her tattoo! Can you say Ribbit!

And here's Dad sporting his new tat. It's the logo from his boat, he says the T captures everything, his initials (TT), Truckee (skiing), Tahoe (his boat), and it's a perfect place to start off his sleeve of tats (up next is a smoking gun).

I still want another one, but I don't think they ink pregnant women. I have this charm I've been wearing, it's a little fat goddess, she may have to go on my butt some day.

Oh - name for the week . . . Vidalia (as in the onion). I run out of food comparisons in 2 weeks, then I may take suggestions.

Saturday

Baby Purchase #1

Okay, so it's not really the first purchase, I've already bought some clothes and books, and mom bought some towels - but this is kind of the first big purchase - furniture. Because my family rocks Nan and Mom are going in together and getting us a glider and ottoman for the living room so we can rock the bambino to sleep (note to self - 17 weeks, need new food comparison for name).

Being that my husband is a GIANT we couldn't live with any old glider we had to get the one that fits GIANTS.

It looks something like this - dark cherry wood, beige/brown colored upholstery. It reclines, it has multiple position, it slices, it dices.

The cats will love it.

On a side note - we got a call from our time share this week. I started talking with the woman and somehow we began discussing being pregnant. She said she had just given birth to a 9 pound + baby four months ago. The child is now the size of an 8 month old. I cringed and said that seemed like something I could expect as my husband was 6'6". She laughed and said "Oh, my husband is 6'4" and 280 pounds - sounds similar"

How early can I get my epidural?

Thursday

Allowances Suck

I know, that's what an 8 year old might say . . . that or a shopaholic who has been put on a budget. I voluntarily gave up control of our finances. I was spending all our money and had nothing but a bunch of unused craft supplies to show for it. It's working, bills are getting paid off, we actually have a savings - but this whole not shopping thing SUCKS! Jim's birthday is coming up, it's my parent's anniversary, I'm having a baby - I WANT TO SHOP. That's probably why my wish list is so long - half of that stuff I would have bought off ebay by now, but my allowance doesn't allow it. *sigh*

Like this - how cool is this?

It's a brownie pan that makes a whole batch of brownies with edges!

Has anyone ever seen a book turned into a lamp? I had the site and lost it - I need directions.

Wednesday

To the highest bidder . .

I haven't talked this with Jim yet, but I think I've had a brillant idea. As I was talking to AJ and she was whinning that she wants to know the sex of the baby it struck me - it shall go to the highest bidder. Why not? People are auctioning off evey other weird thing on ebay - why can't we auction this off and make a little cash?

AJ says that automatically means she's out of the running, but I told her she could always go in with someone. :-)

So I've found something else I want - but I want it different - I know, that makes no sense. I'm pregnant, I don't have to make sense. It's the street sign for a library - how cool is that?

I have also found an awesome site. A number of the items on my wishlist came from sites referenced here. http://kimbooktu.wordpress.com/

I also got a book out of the library that I think is pretty fun - "Everything I need to know about being a girl I learned from Judy Blume" I believe it is short stories by famous female authors about Judy Blume and her impact on their lives (duh, the title kind of says that). I'll let you know how it is.

Tuesday

Knocked up - on purpose!

It's official - I've been able to tell everyone at work now. So almost the whole world knows, I'm preganant! This is our first - EDD 12/1/07. Jim and I are very excited! We'll be having our next ultrasound on Jim's Birthday!

This is our 6 week ultrasound - when he/she was the size of a grain of rice.

Speaking of rice . . . we've been re-naming the baby almost every week, depending on what size it is that week.

So far we've had . . .

uncle ben (6)
jelly belly (7-8)

jelly bean (9)
snosberry (10)
fig newton (11)
professor plum (12)
gump (13)
lemonjello (14)
orangejello (15)
juicy fruit (16)

When my newsletters stop giving food comparisons I'm not sure what we'll do!

In the meantime - I'm updating my wish list to reflect items we need. I know my family laughs, but I figure one day someone might buy something off the list and then it will all be worth it.

Sunday

Wanna buy me something?

I wasn't able to get any crafting done today, but I was able to make an addition to this site. I skipped wisting and went to Kaboodle, which plays a little slide show on this site (look down and to the right) - these are items I've found online and must have. However, since I'm now on a "budget" I can't just go out and make all the purchases I typically would.

So, if anyone wants to buy me anything - you know where to look. I'm sure it will only grow! :-)

Thursday

Yes, I know - I suck as a blogger

Apologies all around - although I doubt anyone is still reading at this point. I've been trying to get in small moments of crafting and have only been mildly successful.

Recently I've made:

  • a sock monkey cloth book for Jacob

  • some cute iron-on onsies for Jacob

  • a small "quilt" for Jacob (although this has not been given yet)

  • I have a sock monkey cut out to put together (to match the book) for Jacob

Then there are these 2 - 2 VERY different projects.

The first is the result of a girl's night out at Ally's Beads. We had a beading party and as I looked at the walls of beads and realized that I had so many of these at home I decided to try and make something different.

The result:

I'm pretty happy with it and have worn it several times. It consists of these beautiful carved Celtic knots, sterling silver wire, and some green marbled beads. All capped off with a Saki silver clasp. Very different from anything I had.

Project #2 - The boob pillow

My baby sister found a lump in her breast last month. Although the doctor assured us it was benign she felt more comfortable having it removed. Today the lump came out and was confirmed as benign. Remembering something I saw on http://www.craftster.org/ I threw this together this morning. I gave it to her in the recovery room and she was very embarrassed. Everyone else (including the nurses) laughed their butts off.

You can't see it in this picture, but I "pierced" one of the nipples. There's a small silver loop hanging out of it. Some might point out that the nipples aren't even, but anyone with a naturally well endowed chest knows they never point in the same direction anyway.

I've been asked to make some items for a fundraiser auction. The last time I did that no one bid on my jewelry, but I'm hoping this time is more positive. I need to get working on that and my Opening Day paraphernalia. Updates to come . . .
