Friday

It's a . . .

Baby! (ha ha)

And for those of you who are ultrasound deficient . . .
The heart beat was 148 and everything is measuring on-track. The tech had to push kind of hard to get the pictures and Cina-Spud (sweet potato) was none too happy. That baby was moving around on the ultrasound screen and kept moving for several hours!

Now on to vacation!

Monday

That's it - you're going in the blog

You know, I didn't really have anything to write about today. Nothing huge over the weekend, a little camping, a great bridal shower - but nothing huge. Then I get an email from my mother this morning. She was correcting my spelling and comparing me to my father.

Note to you mom - Dad doesn't know how to spell the word UNDERWEAR because he doesn't wear any!

If this is indicative of her grand-parenting skills we're leaving the country.

Saturday

And this one belongs to anyone but the Reds . . .

Umm yeah . . . they suck. We had gotten tickets in a raffle so we went. It was nice to spend the time with Jim, and I got to see the Pete Rose exhibit in the Hall of Fame, but we ended up leaving during the 5th inning so I could buy larger underwear. Yes, I left the Reds game to go buy larger underwear.

On the happy side (besides sitting here comfortably in my huge granny panties) it was something the 'stach night at the ballpark. I give you . . .
It's supposed to be the Mr. Redlegs' mustache, but personally I think we look like the guy on the Pringles cans.

Update - the GM was "let go" after Sunday's loss - I'm sure that will make everything better.

Friday

The Heart Beat

Jimmy couldn't make the doctor's appointment today, so I present to you all - a very bad recording of the heart beat. You'll hear one loud thump - that's a kick!

Thursday

On to Plan B . . .

Hmmm, maybe I should have put a bow tie on him . . .

Yogi was rejected from Camp Bow Wow. It's a sad day in the Schmidt household. Apparently Daisy was an angel and got along well with everyone. Yogi got along with the other dogs but growled, snapped, and lunged at the people. They seem to think that's an issue. Whatever.

I drove home devastated, I felt like this was the best option for my furbabies and it didn't work. I, of course, called my entire family and I think I guilted my mom into saying she would stay at our house. Umm, thanks mom - but that means I'd have to clean, well. I'd have to clean the second floor! Yep, thanks, but no thanks.

So I called some friends and found out where they had taken their dog, got on the website and gave them a call. It's PetSuites in Sharonville. I booked the last remaining Penthouse for the dogs to share. It features two toddler beds, a tv tuned to animal planet, and a ceiling fan. They get two potty breaks a day and one special play session. We'll probably pay for one more potty break given Daisy's tendencies to not see the difference between the inside and outside.

I'll go out Monday and check the place out, but I liked the look of the website. There was a wonderful video clip from a CBS news feature about them. And the girl on the phone was really nice. I told her that Yogi had some people issues and was hesitant around new people. She said that was no problem and completely understood. That made me feel better, so thank you Lyndsey.

Disaster averted, the furbabies have a place to stay and (so far) I feel like they will be well taken care of. At the very least it will be like home, they'll lay around all day in bed and watch tv.

Wednesday

Mother's Day 2007

Is this what pre-school is like?

The dogs are quietly sleeping and here I sit chewing off my nails worried about tomorrow afternoon. Okay, so I'm really trying to finish my final school paper so I can start signing my name with M.B.A after it. But seriously the dogs do have a "big interview" in the afternoon.

Aunt Amy is on vacation the same week we are so the dogs also need to go on vacation. I searched through a number of websites and finally came across . . . ta da - Camp BowWow http://www.campbowwowusa.com/about.htm this is apparently the most expensive kennel outside of LA. But the reason I like it is that it's not a kennel. I know, I know - they're dogs. But they don't know they're dogs. The thought of locking the two of them into a cage makes me sick to my stomach. Yogi has never seen the inside of a kennel and he spent very little time in the cage we had. Daisy came from the SPCA and I'm scared putting her in a kennel would trigger flash backs. I know, I know - they're dogs. But they're my furbabies!

Camp BowWow is a day camp for dogs, but they also have overnight camp. The thought of them playing all day and then being plum tuckered out at night makes me feel much better. Plus they have a web cam so we can check in online and try to catch glimpses of them.

But, because it's a day camp they have to come in for an interview to make sure they will get along well with the other dogs. Most of the time they are great with other dogs, occasionally there are problems. They don't instigate, but Yogi will retaliate. I am hopeful it will go well, but I do have a back-up plan just in case.
